About Biwabik
On the Trail, 13 miles southeast of Virginia is the city of Biwabik, population 1,100. There are restaurants, parks, a swimming beach, campground, and boat launches. Area lakes provide for year round recreational activities. The downtown area has a unique Bavarian look. The Mesabi Trail runs east along the south side of town and along Embarrass Lake, and on to the Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort.
Highlights
Because of its location on the Laurentian Divide, as with Gilbert and Virginia, the area offers rolling hills and great vistas. The Trail to Giant's Ridge Golf and ski resort offers a dynamic corridor along the side of streams and large forested areas. Biwabik has become a favorite for recreational activities. In early December, Biwabik hosts its annual Wichnachtsfest to kick off the holiday season. Biwabik has become a fantastic winter getaway because of the many skiing and snowmobile trails.
