Entry Point


For access to the Mesabi TrailSM from Highway 169, exit onto Curley Ave. and travel 3/10 mile. Trail access off parking lot at junction with Hwy 61 & Cole Ave. For parking, follow Cole Ave. to Longyear Park. (see map)

About Coleraine


On the Trail, eight miles east of Grand Rapids, is the town of Coleraine, population 1,100. Trout Lake is located on the town's edge and has public beaches and a boat launch. The town also has a city hall and post office.

Highlights


A new 18-hole golf course is adjacent to this community. Mining memorials are located in Longyear Park. Coleraine also has one of the original Andrew Carnegie Libraries which has been kept in its original condition.

There are restaurants, gas stations and an ice cream shop in town.
