About Hoyt Lakes

Hoyt Lakes is a great place for people who love the outdoors. It is surrounded by two lakes and is near the popular skiing resort Giant's Ridge. Snowmobilers will find over 3,100 miles of well-groomed trails throughout the beautiful Northwoods adjacent to this area. Several nice summer camping, swimming, and boating facilities are available, and there are even some sites for winter camping and ice fishing. Hoyt Lakes was originally a mining residential community, but it is quickly growing into a budding area for tourism and recreation. This area is reached by Highway 135 south of Virginia which travels through Gilbert, McKinley, Biwabik and Aurora. In Aurora you take Highway 110 to Hoyt Lakes.

Highlights

Plenty of outdoor activities are available in Hoyt Lakes. There are also special festivals include the Hoyt Lakes Water Carnival in July, which has open air dances, a water ski show, fireworks, and a golf tournament. The Old Fashioned Christmas, held in December, has a craft show and hay rides and lots of other little surprises. Snowmobilers enjoy the Arctic Blast Snowmobile Run in February.
