Entry Point
For access to the Mesabi TrailSM from Highway 169, exit onto Hwy 15 into Taconite. Trail access in town at Bennett St. parking available at the Community Center and on Bennett Street. (see map)
About Taconite
On the Trail, 13 miles east of Grand Rapids is Taconite, population 310. It has one of the oldest hockey rinks in the region, which is still in operation. Holman Lake is close to town and has a public beach and boat launch.
Highlights
There are plans for a lookout, which will provide picturesque views of the mine pit.

Taconite offers a grocery store, post office and city hall.
