For access to the Mesabi TrailTM from Highway 169, exit onto 4th Ave SE to Lake Street, veering left. Parking is on Lake Street and 1st Ave. SE.
Along the Trail, seven miles east of Hibbing, is the city of Chisholm. It is home to one of the region's major tourist attractions called Ironworld. Longyear Lake is also located within city limits and has swimming beaches and a boat launch. Other attractions include the Museum of Mining, a WPA Project called the Rock Wall and Museum, Classic Car Museum, Bruce Mine Headframe, and the Iron Ore Miner Memorial.
Some of the annual events in Chisholm coincide with events held at Ironworld, such as the Blues Street Dance in early June and the Polka Street Dance in later June (and city-wide garage sale). The beginning of September is the Annual Fire Day Fest.
Many restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores are located in Chisholm.
