For access to the Mesabi TrailTM from Highway 169, turn onto Curley Ave. and travel .3 mile. Trail access is off parking lot at junction of Hwy 61 & Cole Ave. For parking, follow Cole Ave. to Longyear Park.
On the Trail, eight miles east of Grand Rapids, is the town of Coleraine, population 1,100. Trout Lake is located on the town's edge and has public beaches and a boat launch.
An 18-hole golf course is adjacent to this community. Mining memorials are located in Longyear Park. Coleraine also has one of the original Andrew Carnegie Libraries which has been kept in its original condition.
There are restaurants, gas stations and an ice cream shop in town.
