For access to the Mesabi TrailTM from Hwy 169, turn south onto Pine Street. Parking is available at the Civic Center, and Trail access is located two blocks away.
A brand new section of 3.5 miles of Trail was completed fall of 2014 through the new Lake Vermilion State Park. In 2015 another 1.5 miles will be completed connecting to Soudan.
On the Trail, along highways 169/1 is the city of Tower. This popular area, located on world famous Lake Vermilion, offers fishing, boating, swimming, camping, parks, museums, historical sites, and more. The Mesabi TrailTM will connect Tower with its neighboring city, Soudan, a distance of about three miles.
Tower has an Historical Train Museum for those interested in railroad history. The old fire hall, located in the Federal Registry of Historic Places, is another popular attraction. A July 4th celebration attracts visitors every year. Tower also combines with nearby Soudan for several yearly festivals.
Lodging, restaurants, boat rentals, supply stores, convenience stores, and a clinic are available in Tower.
