The Museum tells the story of Hibbing, "The Town That Moved", through photographs & exhibits, including scale models of the city in 1893 & 1913. Defining the transition from underground to open pit mining, the museum features a "Decades" display of artifacts beginning with the 1870s, as well as logging & mining artifacts. View the world's largest open pit iron ore mine. Called the "Grand Canyon of the North" the mine is 8.1 miles long, 3.5 miles wide and 850 feet deep. TEMPORARILY CLOSED due to relocation - opening again possibly late 2018.
